Fishing in and around Fårö has always been important to the residents. In today's situation, fishing is mostly for household needs and the experience. Fårö has two worlds you can experience when it comes to fishing; Coastal fishing or in the swamps (lakes).

In the swamps, you can catch perch, pike, roach and tench.
Though! All marshes on Fårö are private and fishing belongs to the fishing right holder. There are no fishing licenses to purchase, but landowner permission can be granted.

Further along the coast, there are sea trout, whiting, pike, turbot, sturgeon, grayling, salmon, flounder and cod. At the coast, everyone can fish. However, avoid areas such as Norsholmen, Marpesholm and Ryssnäs during the breeding season.
Hyluån is also a conservation area, where all fishing is prohibited during the period from September 1 to January 31 inclusive.
