The fig tree at Ryssnäs

The fig tree at Ryssnäs is a mystery to many. Where did it come from, how long has it been around and who has it been cared for?

Note that the tree is located in a nature reserve, so there are regulations, e.g. ban on staying in this area between 15 March and 15 July.

The seed is probably from a passing bird and has self-sown. The tree has grown out of a bomb crater and is now surrounded by a cairn.
The tree was first seen in the early 1960s and has been cared for by many. Yvonne Lombard is said to have taken care of the tree, KA3 Colonel Arweström ordered that the plant/tree be protected for the future and at the moment two men from Kronhaga Strand are to take care of it.
